Tristram Fane Saunders, Poetry In Liverpool And The Hillsborough Disaster

This week, we look back on our incredible weekend in Liverpool hosted by Rachel and Hayley at Giz A Word (Instagram @gizaword.collective) where we met some of the city’s creatives and got a taste of what Liverpool is all about. Spoiler: Karaoke and non-stop craic

On a walk through the city, we stumbled on the Hillsborough memorial, which had carved into stone a poem by the late David Charters, who worked for the Liverpool Echo as well as offering poetry to the world.

We talk about that awful day in 1989 and share the poem.

We also invited Tristram Fane Saunders onto the podcast this week where we discuss his collection ‘Before We Go Any Further’, his residency at Cambridge and seeing poetry as a friend.

We have a poetry too from Colin Anderson about the young men going to war, and a banger of a track from Roo Elizabeth with her song ‘Bad Dream’

IThanks to everyone for listening to our ‘Understanding Masculinity Through Poetry’ episode, it’s set to be our most popular podcast so far so thank you. If you haven’t listened, then do.

Yup poetry!
